RVM Sounds - Production/Engineering Team & Founder of Soul Tap Records

RVM Sounds is made up of brothers Raj & Ravi Makhija. Based out of New York/New Jersey, these accomplished musicians have helped revolutionize the South Asian movement using Soul Tap as a vehicle to develop and promote raw talent and a new sound to the masses. Blending their own talent with the influences of their musical parents (father plays tabla and mother sings), their sound is definitely a unique one.

Raj Makhija
Raj began teaching himself how to play guitar in the fifth grade. He continued to pursue bass guitar as well and became involved in many in and out of school musical programs like Jazz Band, Marching Band, and programs at the NJPAC in NJ and Manhattan School of Music in NYC. Raj began his first multitrack recordings in middle school. He pursued Audio Engineering at SAE Institute and learned like any other accomplished engineer, by shadowing the best through internships. He climbed his way to becoming a well-respected freelance engineer in the tri-state area, working at the biggest studios (Quad Studios, Sony Studios, The Hit Factory, Legacy, etc.) and with some of the biggest names around (Missy Elliott, Chamillionaire, Musiq Soulchild, Eddie Gomez, & many more). He then decided he had a bigger calling and formed Soul Tap Records.

Ravi Makhija
Inspired by his sixth grade history teacher, who doubled as a drummer, Ravi began to play the drums. Through intense training his knowledge of rhythms and harmonies greatly increased.Through auditioning, Ravi participated in Jazz for Teens, Region Jazz Ensemble, Region Concert Band, All State Band, and All State Orchestra. He also participated in a summer program at Manhattan School of Music, Jazz Ensembles, Wind Ensembles, and Percussion Ensembles. During his senior year of High School, he was recognized as a top soloist at the Jazz Band finals. At Rutgers University, Ravi continued his interest in music with a minor and participating in RU Bhangra. His sophmore year, he founded RU Dhol Effect, the first collegiate Dhol team in America. Since graduating Rutgers University, Ravi has been active in music production as well as offering interactive media services. Currently he continues to work on music and devotes his time to the furthering of Soul Tap Records.
